Basic EMT (EMT-B)
Entry-level EMT training for those entering emergency medical services.
- Approx. 8 months
- Evening-only format
- Prepares for National Registry EMT exam

Class Schedule and Location:
The basic EMT classes meet two nights a week from 6pm – 9pm on scheduled lecture nights, and 6pm – 10pm on practical skills training nights. There are 30 seats in each class and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Full payment is due at the time of registration. Payment must be made by credit/debit card. Classes will be held in the training room of MTSU’s University College at 503B East Bell Street in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Course Fees and Information:
The registration fee for the upcoming Basic EMT class is unknown, but the last EMT-B course was $1,949.00 which covered textbooks, liability insurance, and a scheduling software license for clinical rotations.
This is a non-credit course. You do not have to apply for admission to, nor be accepted as a degree-seeking student at MTSU. No college credit will be received for completing this course. Therefore, federal financial aid such as the Hope Scholarship, Stafford Loans, Pell Grants, etc. may NOT be used as payment.
Additional expenses that students may expect to incur after the beginning of class:
- Travel to and from class and clinicals
- Two uniform shirts (max $30 each, but costs will differ)
- Pants, shoes, and belt (varies)
- Optional equipment
- Eye protection (can be purchased on Amazon)
- Reflective vest (can be purchased on Amazon)
- State criminal background check ($37.15)
- School criminal background check/drug screen ($81.50)
Examination and testing fees (fees subject to change):
