Public Service
Public Service supports MTSU faculty and staff in developing projects that use university expertise to serve communities across Tennessee and beyond. The Public Service Committee reviews grant applications and recognizes outstanding public service through annual awards.
The Public Service Committee includes faculty representatives from each undergraduate college and two undergraduate students. The dean of University College serves as an ex officio member.
Public Service Grants
Full-time faculty members are eligible to apply. Professional staff members may apply in partnership with a faculty member. Grants support projects and activities that advance MTSU’s public service mission. The Public Service Committee reviews applications and determines funding allocations.
Public Service Awards
Each year, the Public Service Committee recognizes faculty and staff members who have demonstrated outstanding service to the university and broader community. The MTSU Foundation funds three Outstanding Public Service Awards of $5,000 each: two for faculty members and one for a staff member.

- March 8, 2027: Nomination deadline
- March 29, 2027: Nominee application packets due
- April 5–26, 2027: Committee review period
- August 2027: Awards presented during the University Fall Faculty Meeting
